Hi guys, new member to the site but I have been reading/researching for awhile now. I'm going to be purchasing a new tractor soon and I am leaning toward the BX line for my current use and plans for our 3 acre property.

I have noticed there our companies that offer large "light material" 60" buckets for doing mulch, etc. I was wondering...has anyone on here has ever considered using a standard B series 54" SSQA front bucket on there BX instead of the 48" standard that comes with the BX? I know the B series bucket is slight wider/deeper therefore it is a little bit heavier...but if one does some of the available "bucket" mods/extenders that are on the market today, wouldn't the added weight be similar to just swapping these buckets? If this has been done and has been talked about before, please forgive me...but I searched and didn't find anything. Also, if this has been done, could someone post a couple pictures?

I don't recall seeing this question asked before, and this is probably due to the older series BX's having a different style bucket attach than a B series. But now since the newer BX models have the SSQA up front it sure seems that this could work? My wife and I spread alot of woodchips/mulch around our property, as we are really into garderning...I was considering this option to help spread the lighter materials faster.

Your thoughts & advice is appreciated. Thanks~

I don't think it would be too much of an issue. I think a lot of it would depend on what you are trying to move. Moving a bucket full of concrete bags, will be more difficult than a bucket full of mulch as you have indicated you want to move.

I mean, I use the 200 pound 55 inch EA grapple to do a lot of my work, and I normally have more issues with traction than I do the ability to lift things. The SSQA should match up and you will be fine.
