It was only in the mid 70s and stormy in New Mexico today. No heat And 2” of rain where I live this afternoon.

Gives me an excuse to work on a project in my air conditioned shop. Just can’t handle the heat anymore!
I don't know about the northeast, but the heat that's passed through NC on the way north has been a nice low-humidity heat compared to the crap we often get. I'll take 96 degrees and 40% humidity any day over the usual 90 degrees and 70% humidity that we'll have in the next month or two.

The heat was pretty intense in South Dakota's Bad Lands a few days ago.
I aint used to 106 degree weather.
It was so hot, Prairie Dog heads were exploding all over the place.
( But they had a little help from this guy, and I should have been a little more picky about my spot)
The 2nd day, it cooled down a little.........but that brought 40+ mph winds........

It wasn't the case here in Arkansas. It's been constant rain and then switched. So moisture has been high.
It was 95 and humid in central IL yesterday so I went for an 8 mile run. I grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast and have always loved to run in the heat. But I do NOT like to work outside in the heat, I have to be moving with some airflow to keep me happy.

Absolutely NOT! The only thing I hate worse than heat is heat with humidity. Got to 96° here yesterday, and I can spit in the Atlantic Ocean with a following breeze. Grandson said it got to 112° where he lives inland a hundred miles. Fut dat.
Marginally cooler today, but grocery shopping trip is postponed. May get down to where this old Yankee can stand to go outdoors tomorrow.

I think our high yesterday was 98° and I don't know what the humidity was. When I went to the kitchen to make coffee first thing and saw condensation on the outside of the window it was an indicator. I wanted a used male Pioneer connector from the shed for a small project and was glad to find it quickly.
The grass is still thriving so far so I mowed again right after lunch. It was very unusual to have the A/C on max to stay comfortable in the Kubota. The tractor had the traditional 4 bars showing on the temp "gauge" that it has pretty much year round.
After parking the tractor in the shed, the short walk up to the house was enough of being outdoors for me.

Lake Effect (L.Superior) cooling on calm to onshore days. So far, no heat dome up here until you are on the leeward side of the ridges. 70-low80s until you head inland a few miles. Night time lows in the 50-low60s. Looks like the dome has moved East and South of the western Great Lakes region. Offshore surface water temps are still in the upper 30 to low 50sF. Bit on the cold side relative to the last few years. The negative. It's getting a bit dry again. Just an occasional downburst of rain that power washes the house. Tenths of an inch. Relatively low for the Midwest RH and sunny weather sucks what moisture there is from the rain out of the ground. Water soil meter reads "dry". Daily watering by watering can to best use the rainwater barrels is getting old.
