Anyone use a 72" deck on the 2650?

Hey guys!

Short time, first time here. We recently bought a B3300 from the local dealer and we've had nothing but problems with the emissions and shutting off. We are looking at "trading down" to the B2650 to get away from all that BS. We like the 72 inch mower deck though and don't really want to give that up for the 60. Anyone have any experience with a 72" deck on the B2650? Any idea how it would perform? It's only 7HP difference but 7HP on a tractor can make all the difference in the world!

Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

I have no experience with that model but my L3000 (27 pto hp) has all it wants in heavy grass with a 72" mower, normal grass it's fine. I see that the 2650 is rated for a 72" mower but I bet if the grass gets ahead of you it will be down to a crawl. Probably as long as you keep it cut you'll be fine.

I'm not getting something here. Which B3300 did you have? The B3300SU was Tier 3 emissions, and has not been a problem. Perhaps you had the B3350?
The B2650 is a new Tier 4 beast, just a slightly smaller version of your same problems. Maybe you meant the B2620.
They are all HSD models, so it is not a big thing to slow it down to suit the lawn density. With 26 diesel horses, 19 at the PTO, you should not have a serious problem with a 72" mower.

You have it exactly right, I apologize. I am actually relaying what my boss is telling me. It's his that he bought and I just messed up the models. It is the B3350 that he has. The B2650 is what he is looking at going down to. So it sounds as if we'd have the same emmissions problems to deal with as well as potential power issues if we don't keep up on the grass??

Can you elaborate on the Emissions and shutting down problem. My B3350 has 13 hours on it and this problem you mention is of concern to me. Maybe you could describe the operating conditions when problem occurs, hours on tractor, what the symptoms are etc.
Thanks
DM

I'd be trying to work an exchange to a B3300SU or a B3200; maybe as small as a B2920. You will then have horses for that 72" mower, retain the small footprint, and do away with the Tier 4 emissions. Those above are all "last years" models and still have Tier 3. I don't recall anything bad in here about any of them.

Ive got the B2920 with the 54" deck and I love it but, I think its only rated for the 54" & 60" deck

I am using the 72 inch belly mower on a B2650. It works fine I have cut grass that was 8 inches tall with no problems or lugging of the engine or mower.

I just got a 2650 and the owners manual says the 2650 does not have the diesel particulate filter DPF. The 3350 does. Sweet little machine but I don't think it's rated for a 72" mower. As stated maybe it just means you have to drive slower.

Both me and my dad have a B2650 and they are still a tier 3 at this time, which is why we got them!!! I have the 60"deck and he has the 72"deck. He has no problems at all and loves it. I just didn't need the size for the extra cost.. FWIW- We both love the B2650!!!!
