Any ideas on how to break-up ice on a gravel driveway?

Use to get Black Magic coal slag. Haven't got it for a while, but the county the power plant is located in got it in bulk for all road surfaces that needed treated for ice.

Due to the lack of sunlight, I haven't had much luck with the sand melting the ice. It has kept me from falling on my ass though, so I'm still counting it as a win.

We picked up 2 tons of 57s. I just bucket spread a little on top. Adds traction and tops up the driveway gravel all in one!

To me, that looks perfect!

Looks a lot like my driveway right now.

Like you, it keeps us from falling down and ensures our vehicles don't slide into traffic going down the slope to the road.....

My goal with sand is not melting anything, but it does help if you have a sunny day.

I threw sand down again today.

We had ice hang on for 2 weeks in January. I could not get through the 4”+ stuff. But I was able to scar it enough so when it froze back the ridges gave you traction.
