The NH has a very similar looking fuel filter housing. Easy to reach for filter change, protected location, filters the fuel before it reaches anything downline. BX is waiting at the dealership for the skid plates, but I now have the user manual. Assuming the filter between the fuel tank and fuel pump is to protect the pump? In your image you removed it?
On the NH since day 1 back in '01 I have been using a specialized fuel funnel filter. Initially marketed to small private airplane owners to filter out particulates and moisture. I remember it being a bit pricey. But it has been very effective. Or just blessed with high quality diesel? Times I have changed the filter I scratch my head thinking maybe not the next scheduled change?
Just google search. Looks like the McFarlane Aviation F3C - Fuel Filter Funnel, 3.5gal/minute. Maybe something to consider if no filter between your fuel pump and fuel tank.
