Hello OTT forum. Some may remember last year I purchased a G5200 to restore, to use, in memory of my Dad. He had a G4200 that I missed out on and figured the 5200 would surfice. I really liked that mower of his and it would throw that grass a country mile!! It would dry before it hit the ground!! The salesman who sold me the 5200 said, “that deck is trash, it’ll never cut grass”. Anyone who knows these machines will tell you, the decks were their weak point. Being a machinist, an having a lathe and mill in my shop, I figured I could “give that deck a new life”!! Well, here it is almost a year later. I figured about 100 hrs on the deck alone!! I’m not a fabricator by no means, but I learned several lessons on this project. One, you can do more than you think you can, if you don’t sell yourself short. Two, it don’t get done until you start it. Pretty simple. Three, it gets old, if you do it ever day. Sometimes, a week went by, without striking an arc. It’s pretty much done now, except for some paint on the sheet metal and tupperware. A few pictures. Sorry for the long post, but almost ever day I checked this OTT forum and gleaned tid-bits of information to help me with this project. Thanks for all the intel!! Now, I hope I’ve got a few cuttings left in the grass growing season to dial this hoss in!! Semper-fi & This We’ll Defend, Mike in the Smoky Mnts.

That looks amazing. Can you come to my house and play? :D Great work. Would have loved to find a 5200 instead of my 2160. But I am happy with it

Nice job. Great way to remember your dad as well. I too fail to take photos when working on a project. The ones you got are great. Thanks for posting.

Hello the forum, welp, today was the day I can say this “labor of love” comes to fruition!! I posted the above pictures to show folks the progress on the Kubota H5200, but also to help me over a hump, or a sticky wicket, you might say. Yesterday, I kicked my own arse and got in gear, to put the paint on it. Several rattle-cans later, it’s finished. Today, I can say the project is complete. Thanks for ALL the kind words, the inspiration and the technical help that you all gave me. I consider you all, at OTT, part of this project, because of y’all’s contributions. Thank you all. Now, Lets go cut the hayfield!!! Semper-fi & This We’ll Defend, Mike

Lmichael, the seat is a vast improvement ocer the OEM seat. It has springs and shocks on it so it’s actually only slightly higher than stock when I sit on it. Adjustable for a persons weight. Thanks for the kind words.
wgator, it was pretty sentimental as I drove it down to show my Mom. She was pleased. Thanks. Semper-fi & This We’ll Defend, Mike

Thank you, wgator, and thank you for your service to our great country. Yup,it is great!! Dad was in the USMC from ‘41 to ‘48. South Pacific theater. Myself, USMC, ‘74 to ‘77, switched to Army and retired from it, hence the “This We’ll Defend”. Cheers. Semper-fi & This We’ll Defend, Mike
