Not sure the engine model, 3 cylinder diesel 25 hp I think. I haven't even tried anything yet. May just need to adjust the throttle cable. Also not sure how many rpms it's running. Just seems a little slow.

I've noticed sometimes if I back off the throttle to about 1/2 throttle and quickly shove it back to full throttle, I can gain what sounds like 100 rpms or so. Which makes me think I may just be able to take some slack out of the cable.

Yes, I need to find out how many it's running at now. Need a diesel tach.

This post is half-baked at best, but any suggestions on a tach or how to adjust rpms appreciated

No tach you can use a non-contact one. Paint a white or silver line on the crank pulley and aim the tool. Cheap, about $20, great for any small engine you have.
