Adding rear hydraulic hookup to L3940

Hi all, I Am a produce grower in mid TN and purchased a 3940 last year to help get more done.

I need to install hydraulic hookups in the rear for our transplanter and have some questions about how to do this. I know there are kits you can buy but I’m trying to figure out if the tractor is already equip with some of what I need.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to do this?
Easiest to just buy a kit?
Can I use the joystick to engage the rear hydraulics once installed? No loader is on the tractor.

Get a photo of the metal lines, do they actually attach to the tractor? My guess is they do and you have hydraulics that would normally run the FEL but can be plumbed to the rear...

I dont see any levers for factory rear remotes and those kits are probably NLA.

Adding a commodity valve for rear remotes is straightforward and not particularly expensive. You could use the loader ports for a rear attachment but I think you will find it is a PITA

Why is it a pain?
With the loader valve already installed he has 2 Hydraulic outlets that just need hoses hooked to them.
Easy as that?

Its an opinion.

Hoses to the rear are ugly and cumbersome and the valve is designed for loader operations not rear implements.

Put a set of rear remotes on it and Its an improvement not a kludge.

While I don't like hoses either, it would by far be the cheapest and quickest solution!
That loader valve looks to be pretty convenient for this task.
Set of jumpers to a rear mounted block and he's good to go.

Is that the kit that replaces the front loader pipes with hoses and outlets in the rear?. If so easy to roll your own.

You just need two roughly 10' long lengths of hydraulic hose with 3/8" make pipe ends and four female quick couplers.

The OEM couplers for the front are 3/8" Faster HNV (ISO 7241-B) and they screw right onto the hoses. Then plug them into the male tips on your tractor. Here is a generic equivalent for the Faster couplers.

The ones for the rear would be any 1/2" ISO 5675 agricultural coupler which you can get at any local tractor supply. You will need two 3/8 female NPT to 1/2 male NPT adapters to screw them onto the hoses. You can get them from the same source.

For clarity: This kit that KubotaFreak pointed at, replaces the forward lines to be rearward lines with quick disconnects.

If I were to do it again, I would run the hoses straight to the hydraulic top and side link with NO disconnects. Saves money since I have never had a reason to disconnect either the top or side link!!!!

Except of course he is not using them for top or side links.......

I've got the parts and am getting the hoses put together. For the valve block (4) on the tractor that I'm hooking these to, which 2 do I hook to for the joystick to operate it?

Dont know the specifics of that valve but the two that operate the loader boom - they will be on the top left side of the valve.
