On the M6040, I changed out the trans filters and fluid, front axles and front diff fluids and noticed that the oil that came out of the axle gear cases had a fine, film of brass/gold throughout it.
No chunks but a definite color.
I am guessing some internal brass parts wearing?
Should I be concerned?
Under 1100 hrs

Is this the first change of gear oil? if so, I wouldn't worry about a 'fine film". Those parts have to wear in somewhat.

My guess would be that the front differential got over looked at service time or they added some oil that didn’t mix with the UDT factory fill.
