I am looking to purchase my first Kubota tractor. I have an RTV 900 now that i really enjoy. My budget is for used, and I need about 38 PTO horsepower minimum. Any suggestions on models would be appreciated. Here are some specific questions I could use help on.
1. I drove a 12 speed glide shift today. I notice some of the older models have only 8 speed. With 4 less gears; it looks to me like I would miss not having a gear in the 4.8-5.7 mph speed range. Should I stay away from the 8 speed?
2. Can the rear wheels be adjusted wider on Kubota tractors; say a 4630, 4400 or 4200 models?
3. I drove 2 4630's today. One owner told me he always clutches to go from forward to reverse using the reverser. I tried it without clutching and it did fine. Is clutching necessary on the glide shift?

Thank you.

Welcome.

8 speeds is fine. I've owned 4 tractors in 30 years and all had 8 spd.

With Glide shift or Shuttle you don't need to clutch for forward/reverse.

The rear wheels can be set out wider, but only if it has ag R1 tires.
