I use all Kubota stuff and will continue to do so, especially the hydro oil and filters. But I see nothing wrong with good after market engine oil

should I stick with Kubota everything?
cost to change 11gal of trans fluid?
thanks
This subject is normally creates a heated debate and carries strong opinions.

Myself, and this is just my opinion feel like the 50hr service is the most important one of the tractors life. Everything is breaking in and being meshed together therefore any and every little metal bur that's going to be rubbed, ground or worn off will be done in the first 50 hrs and will settle in the bottom of the tranny.

Should you stick with Kubota filters and fluid? I didn't, I used Amsoil in mine. The filters I couldn't cross over I did use Kubota filters.
Cost, not sure what Kubota fluid and filters cost but it would be around $400 for Amsoil fluid. Yes I know that's expensive but you get what you pay for. It's only the life of you tractor.

THE MOST IMPORTANT FLUID CHANGE is the FIRST and in my opion the 50 HR. is the most important. And yes KUBOTA is good stuff and if you want to keep it all FACTORY it's the only way to go. But if you want the VERY BEST....GO AMSOIL!

I agree with the others saying do the 50 hour. When I did mine there was a good bit of metal in the filter. Brought it to the dealer and they said it was not unusual and that was the reason for the 50 hour. I will know for sure soon when I do the next change. And I also have the mx 5100 hst.

And that is the point. The oil is cheaper then a new set of gears. ;)

Simple advice:
>Don't go cheap on the fluids. (engine oil, hydraulic fluid, front axle). Use a tractor-branded oil like Case, New Holland, Kubota, or otherwise Amsoil ($$). Cost for 5 gallons of tractor-branded is around $80-$100. Amsoil $130-$190 depending on grade. I used 5w-30 at $185/5 gal. on my 15 gallon hot-running L48 TLB. (!!!)
>Use 70w-90 in the front axle.
>Change out the filters with Kubota or Wix (Napa).
>Even if the manual says change the filter only go ahead and change out the fluids this first time. You could have a UOA done on a bit of the hydraulic fluid to prove it to yourself. Then decide if you want to leave the old stuff in.
