I purchased a L4474 snow blower for my 4060 tractor. I priced out the hydraulic kit for the chute flipper at $1,600. Seems to me it’s just a dual acting hydraulic cylinder and some hoses. Has anybody bought an aftermarket cylinder and some hoses and made it work? Maybe there is more to this kit than I’m seeing.

I recently rigged up a linear actuator (under $100 from windy nation.com) to control the chute flapper on my front mount snowblower. It's not as fast as a hydraulic cylinder would be but it works fine for the amount of flapper adjustment that I find necessary.

Lots of folks just install a 12 volt linear actuator motor as I did. Total cost was under $100.
