2016 L3901 or used 2014 L4600

I am in market for a new Tractor and was set to buy a new L3901 with FEL and backhoe. Got quote for 31,250. Waiting to pull trigger til next week and saw 2014 L4600 forsale with 24 hrs. Basically same features as the one o was gonna buy with out backhoe. Guy is asking 24,000. I will have to get back hoe separate which I figure will run 9000 and be a bigger more than the one that comes with L3901. Question is what would y'all do.

I will be using back hoe to dig ditches and clean out ponds. And is the tractor to plant food plots and other miscellaneous chores around the ranch.

Appreciate any thoughts.

I'll share a thought as I have just pondered tractor purchases over the last few months.

The L4600 is the more capable tractor. Also, you can put the BH92 backhoe on it which is a more capable backhoe with a hydraulic thumb. Overall, the cost may increase a little bit, but I doubt that the tractor will ever make you regret the purchase. The number of hours on it is negligible.

The L4600 is a larger tractor than the l3901 hst.

New package can be financed for 0% for five years and up to a 6 year power train warranty.

The used, unless cash will cost more if financed? And maybe one year left on warranty.

Plus side to the 4600 no DPF!

L4600 hands down, wasn't that the last of the non tier 4's? I've got a T4 truck and all but one of the problems have been emission related. I carry spare parts, tools and an OBD reader for what are common problems.

Incorrect the L4600 was interim tier 4. The L4701 DPF is tier 4 final. Now we have the start of tier 5 DPF and DEF in the larger M series.

My 2013 L4600 has injection pump and mechanical injectors. It does not have a DPF. The decal at fuel cap states to use low sulfur fuel. Is this a tier 3 engine?

Interim and final tier 4 get confused. No DPF can =interim tier 4, DPF can = Final tier 4.

"Street Slang" tier 4 generally indicates DPF oh-God-run-for-the-hills...

Sub-25hp final tier 4, does not require DPF.

Funny but could have gone bad story: Farmers bailing hay across the road, loading trailer with 4' round bales. F350 goes into parked regen. Oops first round bale on trailer starts to go up in flames. Disconnected truck from trailer and moved it ~30 feet forward. Deal with flaming hay bail. I come home and see 3 farmers stomping on the ground. Wonder over and see the field has ignited from truck still running throwing 1400* exhaust. Help them do the dance and they all start cursing Emissions and who left the truck running...

the EPA didn't give a single shit how they would affect farmers or anyone industrial in fields. I think any grass/wild fires that start should have all damages billed directly to the EPA. they could have done better research and development to come up with some other way to "clean" diesel without going 1400 degree regen cycles. ridiculous. any new diesel I truck I get will be "deleted" by necessity, not because I want more power or to piss of the green people.
