2015 Kubota RTV X1100C Power Issues

Hello All,

I have been browsing these forms. Great site!

I am finding some very mixed feedback about an issue I am experiencing and I am hoping someone can tell me if this is normal operation or if there is something wrong.

My brand new Kubota RTV has a V-Blade (Kubota) and we use it for plowing.

On Flat ground we can get speeds of 37KMph but the minim we hit even the slightest incline such as an overpass (We can drive on roads here) the speed plummets to 20KMph and it struggles to keep it at 20...

I have tested this without the plow on to see if its the weight and it is exactly the same thing.

My dealer says that this is "normal" but I just cant imagine this being normal. The inclines are minimal and I am confident I could go faster on a bicycle without breaking a sweat up these inclines.

Does anyone with any real knowledge of these machines have any feedback about this issue? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello I have the kabota rvt 1100 2008 model don't know if you have tried but u have what is called a serve screw located on top of your hydraulic bank under the lift bed take a jack and Jack up enough that the ba c k tires don't touch the ground chock your tires for safety in front then put it in gear now you will see a screw the size of a bolt with a lock nut take some paint an d mark the threads right where it sits this is your factory setting then loosen the lock nut and the screw is a flat head adjust in both directions to see which is better will make your wheels turn you can go to far if it is turning backward you've gone to far go back until you are spinning forward just a little this will make you more responsive out the hole and give you more top speed you can also adjust the serve cylinder squeeze fitting on top and get more throttle you just kind of have to play with it till its where you like it also wouldn't hurt to run about 2 Oz of seafoam through it hope this helps

Sounds like the normal operation of the HST transmission to me. Have driven many, and they're basically all about the same. It is NOT an automatic transmission like a car, and it's not a belt drive. I could type out a very long explanation of how the HST works but it's confusing to everyone who doesn't understand their basic principles of operation, and boring.

The top speed should be in the 23-25mph range on flat ground, with no incline whatsoever. If there is ANY incline, or anything else that can load the transmission and engine, it's not going to reach top speed, and a lot of times, wont' even come close.

Also there's manufacturing tolerances within the HST. The clearance between the pistons and the motor block could be slightly on the loose side, say a few ten thousandths of an inch. That's all it takes and in manufacturing, it's almost impossible to get it dead on to zero every time.

If it's fairly new, call the dealer and ask them to double check the cable adjustments and the HST charge pressure as both can have a big effect on the operation of the HST. They can't be off very much.

And finally, we have something else to think about. We are dealing with a machine that weighs 2400 lbs + the weight of the blade (closer to 2700 lbs) and has 24hp. That is the same weight as a lot of small cars and only 24hp. It's not going to be a hot rod.

A turbo kit really wakes them up!

Top speed is typically 24mph on those RTV-X1100C's. If you're going down the road, and its flat, try kicking your A/C on. You'll actually lose a mph or so, lol.

Well again maybe the older models are stout because I have a gravel road that has an incline that is 65 or 70 degrees and my 08 rvt 1100 hundred bare just like it comes no implement weighs exactly 2900 lbs and I can go from a dead stop in high range and spin the tire all the way to the top but mine also will do all the speedometer shows which is 30 and it's still building power but like I said I didn't stay with factory settings either I have a friend that has a newer 900 rvt open cab and had quite a bit more power than me until I made my adjustment on the servo screw and throttle but now we stay real close out the whole and I got a little more top end which is great beings my rtv is much heavier

Buy I'm not sure what the difference in the rvts are but mine is just a 1100 no x no c just plain Jane just out of curiosity what are the dealers saying about warranty with adding turbos

Not to mention I'm not sure if I could live with 7hp more at the cost of 2000 and not a guarantee of seven and surely not at the rear wheel without changing or modification to head to me not sure it's worth all that

The newer rtv X series has a different HST transmission. It is unmarried. The problem you experience is normal. There is adjustments to the unload valve and you have to adjust the charge pressure. The question you have to ask your self is, do I want power or do I want speed? Unfortunately, you can't have both. Either max speed or max power. I know the will say it will do 29 mph with no load on it. I am a service tech and I work on these at my dealership. On a dealership side of things, that's the questions we ask customers when the say no speed or no power. It's a lot different to the older HST.
