On my M7040 the glow plug light only comes on when it is REALLY cold - well under freezing.
Apparently the operation is automatic since the M7040 starts right up without having to wait for the glow plugs to heat up.
The BX2200 need to preheat a bit, the L48 starts right up but does have a persistent glow plug light.

yep.... it'll only activate around freezing and at that you'll have to watch to see the indicator. I've never had it get colder than the 20's here since I've had mine and it'll only come on for perhaps a couple seconds then.
