Hello All
I recently picked up a beautiful like new 2009 L39 Backhoe with 400 hours on it. The only issue with it was that it needed the 400 hour service. The book says to change front 4 wheel drive oil as well as transmission oil. I wanted to switch over to the Super UTD oil. As I am noticing the price of this oil is Crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions where I could buy by the 5 Gallon pail or is there any type of replacement oil that anyone can recommend? I am trying to keep up on this to keep her going for many more years.

Thank You for reading

You have 2 choices from Kubota UDT or Super UDT2, the Super UDT2 is full synthetic.

Lot of post here discussing the need to use OEM fluids or a cheaper alternative.

My 2 cents is to use OEM fluids to get the most of of your equipment both in performance and life. I have a gear drive L4600 and I use Super UDT2 in it, could I get by with UDT, sure but for $60.00 more every 400 hrs I can use the full synthetic version.

I will never miss $60.00 over 400 hours or in my case at 50 hrs a year 8 years.

Cheaper fluid sure but take the cost of OEM fluids and minus the cost of cheaper fluid what is the true savings? Now divide that by the time before the next change is needed and what is your cost per year more for the OEM fluids.

Just some food for thought good luck in you decision.

Thanks Jay.
I feel the same way. I was just wondering if there was a place to buy online. I think I need almost 12 gallons alone for Transmission.

Thank You
I would NOT go with S UDT.....why?, well, it was good - but now THE 2 at the end is better.....so - S-UDT2 is what you are looking for.

As CM pointed out, buy it, forgot the price part and dig on!!!

I do apologize for not including the link to Messicks.

I am at work and realized I was going to be late for a meeting so I submitted post before inserting link.

I am lucky my dealer is 15 minutes from my work and one of the salesman lives near me and attends my church from time to time.

In fact he delivers to my house any time I need something. He emails me invoice and I leave cash in the barn for him, drops off xxx and picks up the cash.

I rarely go to the dealer since he has to travel by my house to get home and it saves me money as I don't get the itch for something new.

I purchased a QH from him recently, he dropped it off picked up the cash and also left me 3 Kubota hats one for me and pink ones for the wife and daughter.

He is a great guy and sets the bar high for customer service.

Something else to consider, some dealers offer bulk rates for their oils. If you have a 55 gallon barrel that you know is clean, and can be sealed with the bungs, you can save money. Yes, it may last you 8 years, but if kept closed, it won't spoil.

With the 2 ZD326 mowers, M59 TLB and B3200, we us a lot of oil and fluids. I also use the S-UDT2 in other equipment that needs hydraulic fluid, no problems so far.

Do not buy Hydraulic fluids or oil's online, shipping will jack the price way up.

Find a local dealer and get it there.

SUDT2 is just expensive no matter where you get it. ;)

In 5 gallon pails Standard UDT fluid is $84.22 and UDT2 is $103.12. (Used Messick's for prices)

At this price differential it seems UDT2 is the way to go.

A couple of years ago, I researched a number of synthetic replacement fluids and didn't find anything cheaper than UDT2.

Ended up waiting for a 10% sale and bought multiple 5 gallon pails.
