Howdy folks, the tractor has just over 2000hrs. I have had all 4 tires off the ground using the backhoe and front bucket. All 4 tires turn without undue effort or noise. Lever is attached as it should be. All fluids are good (serviced less than 100 hrs ago). I've used the weight of the tractor forward and backward, uphill and down, while steering left and right. Nothing lets the gear slide. could it have twisted a shaft causing it to lock up? The only next step I see is pulling the top off and taking a look. ? appreciate any advice.

Follow-up:
Thanks for the replies. I had been rooting around in some heavy brush previously, so just assumed that I had a piece of wood jammed up in the linkage. But when I looked (hard to do with the backhoe attached and the loader sub-frame in the way) I didn't see anything. Hence the post.
Today I pulled the left rear tire and was finally able to see the 3/4" diameter root jammed in the linkage and snapped off right in front of the axle housing. fished it out. all is well! Thanks again.

First try spraying this area down with some good penetrating lube.
