OEM filters, changed Fluid and new filter, did it again, I checked Charge relief valve and removed it and cone and spring looked good. Used flashight to look into orifice, saw a yellow piece of plastic, a small section fell out of orifice, another larger piece remains. Should i try and remove the rest of the yellow plastic and if successful start all over again with a new filter, or disassemble the front section where the relief valve is located? Any gems of wisdom to pass on?

Me personally, I would be tearing into it and getting all the junk out of it before I ran it anymore.

Are you aware if there are any plastic components in the check and high pressure relief valves, the flow towards the charge relief valve appears to come from the hydraulic filter?

What part of HST should i clean out and is it necessary to remove the whole unit?

Thanks for your recommendations Wolfman

If I am reading the WSM correctly the oil pressure at the HST filter is controlled by the HST charge reliefs. I dont think that requires any disassembly of the transmission itself. Have you measured charge pressure?

Hi Dan

I have not measured the charge pressure yet. I was thinking that if I could remove any debris left by the charge relief valve, ot should be ok. I was going to see if i could clear the debris manually with a pick or use air via the hydraulic filter port. I added some additional hydraulic oil a few weeks ago, i wonder if it contained some foreign debris. This fluid was taken from a 20 litre container can that had been sitting around for 2 years.

Any further ideas Dan or anybody else.

Very much appreciated,

Pat

I like your plan. Not sure how the debris could get through the pump and past the filter but it came from somewhere...
