My glow plug light is out and my glow plugs are not working at a low temperature so I am about to replace the relay but not sure where the timer is or where the temperature is being monitored. My temperature gauge on the dash works is that sufficient for that part of the system Leaving me the controller and relay for the glove plugs themselves

Why attempt to do anything other than fix it like it’s supposed to be?

hmmmm
1) glow plug light on dash could be burnt out..
2) 1 or more of the glow plugs could be defective
3) fuse powering 'glow plugs' could be open
4) mice could have chewed wiring

so
replacing the controller and/or relay may not accomplish anything, except lighten your wallet

it'd be nice to see the wiring diagram.... don't know if the 'temperature sensor' for the glow plug controller is the same as the dash gauge one though I suspect not.....

It is always so tempting to just throw the parts $ wallet at a problem like this.
I have done it......and I have failed every time.
Do the troubleshooting FIRST!
