I have a L2950 and the only way I can start it is by jumping the starter with a wire. The key start will not work and I have no dash lights. When I turn the key all I hear is click (starter relay?).

1. Battery is good and fully charged.
2. The fuses in the fuse box have all been checked and the 40 amp fuse by the starter is good.
3. The starter relay has been changed and the starter times cleaned.
4. All connections checked.

As far at the PTO, seat and forward/reverse safety switches, if they are bad the tractor won't start but I should still get dash lights, right?

Any ideas?

Get to the back of the switch check for power on the back of the switch to each connection. one is the power in from the starter 40amp fuse, then several out.
You have two problems going on, no power going back to the starter solenoid and no power going to the dash. There is no "relay" in the starter circuit on your model, there should be only 2 safety switches, one on the PTO and one on the Shift or HST.
You can by pass them to make sure it's not one of those that's causing the problem.

You should have power to one fuse "for the stop solenoid" all the time and you should have switched power to all the rest check them in and out, one does go to the dash.
