Hello.

I searched this forum for something similar to my questions, but didn't seem to find it. Sorry if the answer is elsewhere.

My 3301 ran fine one day, but the next I got nothing. By nothing, I mean no electrical at all when the key was turned. I discovered the 50 amp slow blow fuse by the battery was blown. I tracked the electrical to the glow plug relay, which according to my tester was fine. The tractor will now start without the glow plug relay.

This would tell me the issue is somewhere between the glow plug relay connector and the plugs themselves. I can't visually inspect the plugs because the fuel tank and a bunch of other things are in the way.

I have the current workshop manual and it appears that in order to change the plugs I would have to remove the fuel tank. I called the local dealer mechanic and he gave me a wishy washy answer that I could remove some things to get to the plug wires to test but would not elaborate. I just had the entire wiring harness replaced by the shop under warranty because of a defect. (The wiring harness is installed to the Engine ECU upside down, so moisture can run inside of it...)

Does anyone have any ideas what I would need to remove/move to at least get my tester in there. I will pull the tank if need be, but if I don't have to mess with it I would rather not.

Thank you.

Don't you think there could be a connection to them replacing the harness to... I don't know something like a pinched wire.

I wouldn't be working on it I would be telling the dealer to fix whatever it is they messed up, and you want it documented! ;)

I'm with Wolfman, if they worked on the wiring and you are now having problems it probably has something to do with it. Plus, if it is under warranty they should fix it. Even if it isn't under warranty, they should fix the problem that it sounds like they caused.

Just to make things clear, the wiring harness they installed includes the wires that go to the glow plugs?

I may be wrong but I think if someone installed the harness "improperly", it'd have burned the 50A fuse immediately upon starting the engine, which means whomever installed it would never have been able to drive said tractor out of the shop and load it to deliver or drive it onto customer's trailer. Am I wrong?

Now if you can visually SEE the glow plug wire dangling in there, maybe up against some bare metal or something, yes, that's a dealer issue.

Check the Alternator wire, see if it's loose.
