Does anybody know if they made a few different water pumps for the d1005? I had a cracked timing cover, found a used one, put it on and everything is exactly the same until I went to swap the water pump. Everything lined up except one bolt. The hole is off by maybe 1/16-1/8 inch. I’m afraid to go drilling and tapping as it was hard to find a cover. Especially if it isn’t necessary. The original cover was on my 96 b2100, not sure what the donor is on the other cover. Any knowledge is appreciated.

Yes they make different gear case covers.
One option:
One cover might be for a D1005 IDI and another cover might be for a D1005 DI
Other options could be that the cover was simply used for different applications like a a generator plant.
One other option is that the cover is not off of a D1005 but another engine like a D1105 or some other model.
Post a set of pictures of each cover and water pump and I can see if I can cross the pumps for you.
