3 point hitch failure after fluid change B7300 HSD

I have just changed the Hydro fluid on my B7300 Kubota including new filter .Now my 3 point hitch will not work at all. Any ideas ?

CHeck dipstick.....

run the lever up and down a lot .......could be sucking air for a bit. Noise different from the pump area?

And leaks anywhere?

no sound at all when lever is in up or down position. I have ran the tractor for about an hour at full RPM in gear traveling around the farm with PTO turned on all seems OK except no action from 3 point hitch arms. It is HSD and all drive seems OK

Somewhere along the line - she is pumping air, might need to look at the supply side and see if fluid is getting TO THE pump....if there is a separate pump for the 3 point.

more people will chime in and explain how per your machine.

I hate to hear when people have run a unit for any length of time without the hydraulics working properly, and no the HST does not use the hydraulic pump to work, so the fact the tractor moved has no bearing on whether the pump was working or not.

Long use at high RPM's on a vapor locked (dry) pump can cause some serious issues like just simple pump loss or more seriously fluid contamination from a completely trashed pump that just shoved junk through the whole system.
Lets hope you didn't trash the pump! ;)

Did you clean or replace the filter screen (#50)?
If you did, did you install new O-rings (#60)?
Check (#70) and the clamps, one small hole in that hose will keep it from priming the pump.
Loosen banjo bolt #160, run for a short time and see if you get fluid movement, if you do, tighten and check for 3 point return use.

Thank you for your help, this diagram and instructions will give me a roadmap to begin troubleshooting my pump. No, I didn't address the filter screen only the screw on external filter. I did, however begin to loosen a bolt that appeared to be another drain plug but after a few turns I changed my mind and reinstalled it. It is located at the base of the screw on filter housing. Could this be where I will find the filter screen on my specific Model B7300 bought back in 1998 ( I bought it new)

No the filter screen is #50 on that picture, it's the banjo bolt that holds the suction line on.
The plug in the bottom of the filter housing has a ball and spring in there and it's stop fluid from back flowing when shut down.
You didn't pull the plug all the way out and dump the ball and spring did you? :confused:

No, I didn't remove the plug I only loosened it a couple turns then realized it was not a plug so I just tightened it back up without removing anything. Could I have damaged or jammed anything while doing all this. My other thought is to check the filter I installed.

Not very likely that you did any damage.

Yes filters have been know to be bad. ;)

Did you loosen the banjo bolt on the pressure line and see if you get fluid movement?

I have seen the 7300's lose prime to the pump before. I don't remember why, but I do remember having to over-fill the system grossly to get it to pick up fluid, once primed it was good to go.

Now that I think about it, wondering if the transmission case vent could be plugged?

Watching this for a solution, I hear the exact same complaint from call-in questions from time to time.
