Hello all,

I've recently purchased a Kubota B20 BH-51146. I think it's this one:

http://www.tractordata.com/backhoe-loader/000/1/3/130-kubota-b20.html

I'd like to take the backhoe off & add a topper or rotovator. The tractor has a working rear PTO but it's not attached to anything. It does look like it can take attachments but unfortunately there is no 3 point hitch.

Is anyone able to confirm whether you can actually get a 3 point hitch for this tractor & point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Thanks for your post Ray.

I've taken a look at the arms in your picture & it does look like i'm missing them on my tractor. There are however two cylindrical 'things' on the the tractor where the arms in your picture attach to the tractor. The cylindrical things look like they rotate so perhaps they are used to lift the arms?

I'll take a look at the generic kits & try to figure out which one might fit but it's quite tricky as i didn't realise a 3 point hitch had so many pieces to consider!

Thanks for your help Ray & for pointing me in the right direction - much appreciated!

There shoukd be a lever that moves them up/down.
May need to push down on them.

And if you can not find the owners manual you can post a picture and someone will know what it is for.

Hi guys

Does anyone know how I can remove the backhoe from my tractor?

I thought it would be straight forward but I’ve not had much luck at all. As I understand it the steps are as follows:

1. Lower the backhoe bucket so that it is resting firmly on the ground.
2. Remove the two bolts (circled in red).
3. Push the levers (circled in green) to face out towards the left & right.
4. Edge the tractor forward slightly before stopping to disconnect the hydraulics.

I’m slightly embarrassed to say that I’m still on step 2. I can spin the bolts anticlockwise using an impact wrench but they don’t seem to come out. I’ve spun it for a good 30-60 seconds but they still haven’t come out.

Does anyone know if they should come out or if they’re some sort of special bolts that just need to be loosened? Should I move onto pushing the levers out to face the left & right before edging the tractor forward?

I know it seems like a very basic question but I can’t imagine why the bolts won’t come out?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes you need to remove those 2 bolts, oddly the manuals all show them as T handle latches or Bolts and not bolts with heads.
If your turning them counter clockwise and they are not coming out, I worry that they are just stripped out. :(

This may be a stupid question and I am not familiar with your setup... Are you positive that those bolts are not through bolted with nuts? If the nuts are lock nuts or rusted onto the bolt they will spin all day long without going anywhere.

If they are not through bolted and the threads are stripped, a pair of vice grips may help in the removal. Use the vice grips to pull up on them while you use a wrench to spin the vice grips at the same time.

Hi OldeEnglish

Not a stupid question at all (I’m not familiar with my setup either as it’s my first tractor!).

It’s a good point you raise as the bolts might be through bolts with nuts. It’s been difficult to check before as there’s not much room to feel around but I’ll try to confirm.

I appreciate the comment OldeEnglish & will post back with an update…
