Thanks, much appreciated, that was a lot of good info. I know that no fuel comes out of the transfer pump so I'll assume that it's the problem. I'll try the mustard bottle trick (that's good) but plan on pulling the pump to check diaphragm and replace if that's it.

Older tractor, 1983?, been sitting for 9 months and won't start. New diesel and I tried to bleed it at the valve by the transfer pump but nothing. There is fuel to the water separator and from there to the transfer pump but not from the transfer pump to the injection pump. So I am thinking it is...
