    Oil Extractor Recommendation

OK the new Vevor I ordered came. Different model though from what I can see only the tank size is all that different. Anyway this was it's "acid test". On manual power I wanted to see if it would pump cold dirty drain oil. So I had a jug of old drain oil outside (not brutally cold today...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

Well the new one came today. Seems to work. The previous one did not pull a vacuum this one if I give it one pump, it pulls a pretty hard vacuum. I will see if it pulls cold oil. If it can do that it's a keeper!

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

That petcock is not in the radiator it's on the side of the engine block. Radiator on this model has a little plugged off rubber hose and a clamp. No petcock, so nothing to "fix" there

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

That is not smart IMO. From the looks of your photo(s) it looks like the ONLY thing holding the pressure is rust. Meaning the cooling system was badly neglected. And if it lets loose that leak will be sudden and catastrophic. And in the worst place possible both from a cooling standpoint and...

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

People keep calling this a "bolt" it's not a bolt. It's a petcock. As for leaving it, VERY risky. Being a petcock there is a hole in the center and who knows the condition of the pintle? I've never had great luck with EZ Outs but for all the times I've used them I've never broken one. The...

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

It might. But, be careful. Judicious heat, penetrant, and just go slow

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

I don't think it's a "bolt". On mine it's a drain petcock. So honestly if not properly repaired I think that thing is a nightmare waiting for a bad time to happen

G2160 Drain cock plug broke, need to take out for coolant change?

I would definitely not leave that. If it's that bad that cooling system is likely in need of plenty of flushing

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

Nothing wrong with evolving discussions. I do have one comment re the EWK oil extractor though. The pump handle can rotate while pumping, and if you're not cafeful, you can pinch your fingers between the handle and the air valve. You might only do it once though. I'm curious as to whether...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

Well this discussion certainly has "evolved" :D Listen I will report back on the new extractor once it arrives here. Good or bad. Another reason I think the first one I had was a "problem child" is I saved a few $$$ and bought it from Amazon Outlet. (An)other thing(s) I already noted the air...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

Have really not had issues with Vevor stuff until the aforementioned oil extractor which I now think may have been a "one off" issue with that particular unit. I did buy it off Amazon as an Amazon Outlet deal. It was apparently a return. It did not look used but perhaps someone ho purchased...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

I decided to give this one a go Amazon.com: VEVOR 15L Pneumatic/Manual Fluid Extractor Pump, Oil Changer Vacuum Fluid Extractor, Oil Extractor Change Pump for Automotive, Oil Change & Fluid Change Tool with Dipstick and Suction Hose : Grocery & Gourmet Food Saw many vids on it. All show it...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

How did the EWK product work between manual and pneumatic? On the Vevor, manual use was totally useless. Powered use was not far behind but "sort of" worked. One of the reasons on a lot of my power equipment I am going over to battery is because I am tired of taking care of small gas engines...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

My thing is I really like the idea of being able to use either air power or a manual pump. Sadly the Mityvac (I stupidly gave away) could pull out anything. I used it to evacuate my mower gear box as well as engine oil on the tractor, ATF on my Toyota Highlander (which oddly same friend who has...

    Oil Extractor Recommendation

So, quite some time ago IIRC it was Lugbolt who recommended the Mityvac to me. And it works like a champ. But I wanted one I could use with either the air compressor or had a built in pump . So having had good luck with Vevor products I bought one from them. Went to try it on the Kubota and oh...

Oil change interval on low use tracto

I guess maybe in my case lesson here is rather than do a spring/early summer change out of oil and filter move that to fall around my last leaf chopping/lawn feeding time period and then the unit will over winter with fresh(er) oil and filter. Save the mower deck gear box, coolant, and transaxle...

Oil change interval on low use tracto

On our hybrid car I try to follow calendar pretty tightly because it gets a lot of short trips with wife driving it 98% of the time and hybrids are really hard on engine oil . I know at least on the tractor once it's running I definitely get the oil to a good operating temp. My other car...
