Thank you for all the advice. It's a hard decision to fix or part with it, my own ignorance that caused the damage. I think I'll contact the manager on Monday. The dealer is about an hour away so not inclined to just pop in for a face to face. Rose.

The mechanic said he wouldn't look at the engine till the rad was fixed. I think I'm going to get a man friend to phone and talk to him about it . The mechanic sounded very young

I didn't see liquid come out but did see some smoke near the glow plug closest to the rear. I have a picture but not sure how to get it into this place from my phone... I can get the site but can't find where this message would be to attach the file

I phoned a rad shop today, they said to bring it in for assesment. I can see where the rad is broken, at least one part, where the top is connected to the frame below the cap. Not sure that can be repaired There must have been a lot of pressure to make the frame split from the top part where...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had the tractor taken to the dealer, they just phoned to say it would be $2500 Can. to get a new rad and parts cause they would have to addapt a different rad to my old GF1800. The labour would be extra. They said they could not tell anything about the engine...

CAn't really remember the kind of bang. Could the broken rod be from working very hard?

Can that be fixed or will I have to get a new tractor?

While mowing thick tall grass in a pasture the engine went bang then began to smoke. It still ran so I drove it a short distance. Upon lifting the engine cover there was oil (?) spread about and smoke coming out of what looks like it could be one of 3 spark plugs . The manual does not mention...

This would require a trip to the shop right?

NOt sure it is the blades causing the vibration as the mower isn't engaged so they wouldn't be spinning.. could towing it cause a problem? just the back wheels were on the ground when being towed

Somebody left a chain in the grass from last year and I ran over it with the GF1800E / mower. When I ran over the chain it made a gosh awful noise and the whole tractor quit. I raised the mower up with the bigger Kubota , cut out the chain and towed it back to where there is electricity to...

The key was out of the ignition while we added the additional ground wire. The fellow that helped was a maintenance mechanic for grass and snow machines for the city till he retired. Good man to know ( and I like his wife too) I will certainly keep in mind not to have the tractor on while doing...

Success !! turns out the ground wire was at fault. We ( neighbour with a Kubota and I ) put a black to black battery cable to battery and raw metal on tractor and that started the tractor. For now we are doing a MacGyver till summer when we can get under the tractor to the plate the ground is...

Still no start on tractor today, only -12 right now so temp is not a factor. I put the battery charger on to the battery not just to the leads that had been installed. Did a quick charge and a trickle. The trickle charger said it was at 99% when it was connected straight to the battery...
