UPDATE: So I looked a little closer at where the sight glass was supposed to be and took a Dremel sander to it. Turns out it was just painted over at some point. I’ve still got a little sanding to do until it’s clearly visible, but at least I know now. Thank you to everyone who replied with advice.

I found the same diagram online and in that location on my tractor there is no sight gauge. it looks like it is supposed to be there though. I suppose it’s possible the guy I bought the tractor from painted over it in an effort to obscure faded paint/rust...
