    Trench Closer?

Before closing the trenches, I'd suggest getting the coordinates of all key components for future use.

    Kubota U-27 excavator.....

How steep? Just climbing or digging while on an incline? You won't know until you try, you can pull yourself up with the bucket, have you blade behind you, going down slide on the bucket, go straight up and down. Wear your seat belt and be careful.

Should I buy a landscape rake?

I purchased a Howse 7" landscape rake after hurricane Katrina it worked great for gathering debris getting it close to the fire, then turning the tines around and pushing and lifting into the fire. I also have the guide wheels never use them; the ground needs to be very level.

    MX5100H Compression

I'm finally getting around to doing a compression test, no issues just want to do a base line. The engine is a V2403-M-T, the glow plug part number is 19077-65512. Does anyone know the thread size, I'd like to have the correct adapter in hand prior to moving components. I use a Lang Tool gauge...

    Used Hydraulic fluid

I burn a mixture of diesel and waste oil in a smudge pot outside during the cold months, it saves lighting a campfire.

Does anyone use a "mobile hotspot" and a Smart Thermostat together?

Maybe just shut off the water and drain the pipes when you leave. At a minimum, shut the water off any time you leave winter or summer. Water bugs with a failsafe shut off valve can help save on your insurance.

    Looking for some "machine advice"

Even if you throw out everything of the existing pole barn a 36x40, space will evaporate quickly, if getting a larger lathe, I assume you'll be doing metal work, welders, milling machines. fab tables, chop saws, torches, presses, etc. There's always a chance you'll get into some type of...

    Whistle Questions

I believe it's a 3/8" valve, that's the only pipe size that's an eight. The Brewery was probably using steam.

    Pond dredging Project

Bring in a track hoe and cut the levee and have a fish fry, let it dry thoroughly, then remove the sediment, reshape the pond, then close the breech.

    Raising Pole Barn Floor

Once you fill it with toys you may regret not choosing the concrete option.

    Gas in the diesel.

In addition to draining the tank, changing the filter I'd disconnect the injector lines and crank until you're sure you have good fuel.

    New Gen set

If this is for your home use, I consider a correctly sized (full house) diesel generator (1800RPM) with either a Kubota or Perkins water cooled engine, with or without an enclosure. Select and size a day tank of your choosing. Permanently install it so it can't be lent. Decide whether to use an...

    Small beach maintenance machine?

Consider modifying a 4' land leveler with expanded metal (sized to what you don't want to pass) and a mount 12- volt trailer vibrator. Mount the expanded metal to two pieces of angle iron and place it behind the first blade make it adjustable to pivot (up/down) to achieve the best performance...

pole barn design and construction advice?

My suggestion is to not to under build especially with permitting required, the amount of effort needed to go bigger only comes down to funds availability. Or at the very least provide for future expansion.

    Small yard beautification project

Pressure reliefs would ensure that the wall doesn't walk out at the bottom. Geotextile fabric would keep mud from weeping through the timbers.

Making a Water Hauler and Sprayer

I'd recommend checking the pump rollers and strainer. Ensure the nozzles are all the same size, get a graduated beaker to help determine the pumping volume. Purchase some dye to practice coverage. Purchase a foam marker to ensure you track where you've sprayed. Add some fittings/valves and...

Removing PTO driveline from old rotary cutter

I believe as others have said it's supposed to be a shear bolt, and someone forced a pin into the shaft. Some do have a snap ring but some have shafts with an angular ring cut into it and a set screw to allow the shaft to slide off, once the pin is removed. Once everything is cleaned up I'd...

Should I sharpen my brush hog blades?

I'd consider purchasing new blades and fasteners and wait until the off season to change them, at that time I'd also remove the stump jumper and reinstall using anti- seize, so when the time comes to change the output shaft seal, the job will be easier. Also, if it's a used piece of equipment...
