But I wou;ld like to know how I would mess up the injection timing by pulling the pump apart?

first how would I mess up the timing in the injection pump if I never turned the flange sleeve? second the rack pin is installed in the governor linkage properly. Third if the injectors are not firing right it should not cause over revs as they do not control the fuel going to the cylinders...
