I need to replace the engine block on my L260. Finding one is proving to be difficult. So I was wondering, is the mounting flange at the transmission a common size? Maybe I could source a newer engine, something that may have better availability for parts. Any thoughts, ideas?

Hey Gary, The machine should have at least an idiot light for the temperature on the dash. But aside from that, the readings you are getting with the pyrometer show that the engine is getting cooled enough. Also, the drop in temps from top to bottom show system is functioning as it should...

It shouldn't be any longer than when you took it out. Yeah, I believe that is correct. The splined companion flange with the 3 screws should be inserted in the yoke (110), the assembly slid into the shaft at the opposite end (100), then align the companion flange and insert the 3 screws.

You should be able to replace the universal joints on the bench, and then reinstall the assembly in the same manner as you removed it, as a single unit.

Even when the AC is not switched on by the dash control, the clutch still cycles on and off while the engine is running.

Like the other guys say, the operator's manual should have guidance for operating parameters during break-in. Usually, when breaking an engine in, you ned to work it at varying ranges of engine speed and load. So running it at 75% throttle while mowing would be great. Me? I'd try to run it...
