I had the same problem with mine for several years. Had a friend check everything out, and he finally agreed with me that I needed a new ignition switch. $48 later, it's great to turn the key and have it start.

It's power steering.

is about 4 inches on my L2850DT, vintage 1984. The adjusting bolt is screwed all the way down, naturally tight against the locknut. The linkage doesn't seem worn at all. What's next? Rebuild of the steering box possible?
