    Assessing water in hydraulic oil

Just letting it idle will probably not heat up the fluid. Drive it operate the FEL, move boulders, grade the drive way, dig a swimming pool. Operate every thing that is hydraulic to move the fluid and you want it hot. At least a few hours of hard work.

    Assessing water in hydraulic oil

My un-expert feeling is... run an acceptable, cheap oil. Half a hour, working all components of the machine. Drain, refill and then run the tractor hard (six hours of work) to get it real hot. Water will 'boil off'. Every hour during this hard day, check the level, it should drop if there is...

    Stabil wins, hands down.

I've always used Stabil and I also never let any gasoline site more than about ten months at worst, most engines are either run monthly or fully drained. Never a problem except... when I washed and engine and manged to force water in the fuel!/ Ounce of Stabil and five gallons of fuel. Even...

Barn Find - B6100e Motor wont turn over

I'd approach a bit more positive. Since you know the crankcase is way over filled with 'something', I'd drain it, refill with inexpensive oil that you'll use at best, half a hour before you change it again to flush out impurities or worst case, delve in to the engine. Remove the glow...

    BX24D front wheel rims breaking

I can't imagine loading the FEL so severe that it destroys rims. Tire bead roll off? Axles not broken? Lug nuts correct and torqued?

BX Series (w/ mower deck) Fuel Filter Replacement

In my case, I believe the 'cuisties' was dead algae. I cut open the filter and the material clogging it was sort of of, like something that bonded to itself as organics (like a scab) do. Had it been rust, it would of been flaky/crumbly, it would not 're-assemble into a solid chunk'.

BX Series (w/ mower deck) Fuel Filter Replacement

First filer change (due to poor running) filter near the tank was black with crusties. One after the pump was clean. I replaced both. Five years later, noticed poor running. Crusties again, this time I only replaced the one close to the tank. Tractor is now stored in a dry environment and fuel...

    Snow blower question

NWS also predicted this was going to be the worst hurricane on record. If anyone could be accurate with predictions, they should go to Vegas and play roulette. I expect my 10% cut. Me? I am near positive about what happened yesterday. Every November, I put skid shoes on my FEL They stay on until...

    Snowblower Chain

Quality is important. Cheap chain will kink and destroy sprockets PDQ. Me? I'd buy a quality motorcycle chain, if enough room side to side, a good X or O ring chain in a 420 size (same as a 40 only more robust). One good chain will will last a life time.

Oil Leak on Left Front Rim of L3710 4WD

Clean and recheck to see EXACTLY where it is seeping from. Baby powder sprinkled on after a time tells the tale.

    Loaded tire fluid level

But was it off the ground during filling? IE, did some book say for example, '11.5 gallons' and the shop money got close and never bothered to bleed out the excess.. My tractor spit the first dozen times I did air pressure checks, perhaps 1/4 teaspoon each time. Honestly, other than bleeding...

    Loaded tire fluid level

Another minor point. Tires are often filled with the tire/tractor raised off the ground. So 'squat' can make a full tire seem over filled. Especially true is the tire is low on air to begin with.

BX25D has a clogged nose (fuel filter)!!!

Ran for five hours today, flawless. Got a lot of dirt to move over the next month or so, I'll be curious if more dead microbes end up in the filter. Today, the tank was run down 75%, hopefully it moved the dead critters to the filter, I'll check in a day or so to see if the filter is black.

BX25D has a clogged nose (fuel filter)!!!

I'd thought about relocating but... once every five years, not worth the trouble. I think I had a condensation issue ten years back, (stored more or less exposed to the elements and the tractor would be soaked with condensation) and I've killed all the microbes, just taking time to get the dead...

BX25D has a clogged nose (fuel filter)!!!

My little guy ('Wally') has been working a lot the last two weeks, moving dirt. Today, I noticed him running a little funny. Then suddenly, not holding high rpm. Uh-Oh!!! Misfiring, near stalling, stalling.... Fortunately, the dirt pile is almost next to the shop so I nursed the little guy in...

MX4800 LCD hour meter and info display repair?

Replace it. But a replacement may be horribly expensive. And a lot of data is stored in the meter assy and would be back to zero. There are a few places that repair automobile instrument LCD's, I'd reach out to a few of them. Most are small biz that consists of a expert electronics tech and an...

ZD326 Frozen Scalp Wheel Shaft Troubles

My own experience with 'frozen shafts'. I put what ever it is in a big press, properly block it. Press. 30 tons will move just about anything. Just be prepared for the giant terrifying "BANG' when the bond breaks loose. Like a lot of jobs, prep is 99% of the job and if done with thought, the...

Vevor hydraulic steering unit for B series?

Ah, got it. Hypothetically, it your machine currently has one full rotation of the steering when to go full right to full left, you add this and it now takes six turns to go full right to full left but with 1/6th the effort.
