Photo shoot anything lately? Random Photo Thread

What (if anything) are you allowed to use to keep the potato bugs under control? Around here they'll strip a plant right down to the stalks overnight if you don't stay ahead of them.

    Land Pride RFM (1672 Vs 2572) behind a B2650

Another 1660 behind a B2650 here. With sharp blades and a new belt, the B2650 will run it through pretty much anything but I think it's about the limit, power-wise. After several years of messing with pneumatic tires, I ponied up for a set of solid-tired casters. Now it's just hook up and go...

    Beetlemania

Stinkin' deer (I'd use a MUCH stronger adjective, but out of consideration for the moderators...) have eaten as much of my arbor vitae and yews as they can reach, and have every Winter for years. I was under the impression that yew was toxic, but apparently not the variety I have. I would...

    Beetlemania

Huh. Did not know that, and not coincidentally I tore out the big hosta bed next to my oriental lilies because I was sick and tired of providing a salad bar for the deer.

    Beetlemania

This is the first year in a long while I haven't had to battle them. They usually do their best to devastate my oriental lilies. I do find that liquid Sevin controls them quite well, as long as I get it on in time.

    Teach me about hydraulic motors

It's certainly an option. He already has a 3rd function for a grapple on the bucket and I'm not sure what plumbing would be required (or if ports are available) to tap into power-beyond. Worth investigating if he/we decide to build it. Save about $700 what with the pump, tank, filters and...

    Teach me about hydraulic motors

That would require tying the valve lever in the open position and restrict flow wouldn't it?

    Teach me about hydraulic motors

My mechanical design works well at about 3000-3600 RPM. I based that on the walk behind 4-stroke trimmer that uses direct drive from motor to string head. If this materializes, it'd be for my grandson's 3046R John Deere. Not sure where I'd tap into the system to use the tractor's hydraulics...

    Teach me about hydraulic motors

Grandson has been pricing specialty mowers for mowing orchards and ditches and such. Lots of suitable technology out there, but the prices will take your breath away. I'm thinking of building a hydraulic version of my diesel string trimmer. The idea is that the string head would be hinged so...

Why do I always have too learn the hard way?

The very first thing I did when I moved back to Maine on my last tour before retiring from the Navy (Naval Base 5 miles from the house, work 3 miles...) was buy a tractor. After using my Father-in-law's John Deere 750 compact, I bought one just like it with a Wood bush hog and a Howard Tiller...

    Are y'all enjoying

Absolutely NOT! The only thing I hate worse than heat is heat with humidity. Got to 96° here yesterday, and I can spit in the Atlantic Ocean with a following breeze. Grandson said it got to 112° where he lives inland a hundred miles. Fut dat. Marginally cooler today, but grocery shopping...
