    Daily Chuckle

There may be some actual pictures somewhere in boxes we move as generations die off, but here are some pics that resemble the equipment in the "town" playground when I was a kid. The volunteer fire company maintained a small park for the kids in that end of town. There was a baseball field and...

    Buying advice and pricing :)

There are lots of tractor activities ahead and it'll be almost impossible to know them all before you even get started. Whatever you get, you'll be thrilled with it. How long the thrill lasts will be determined by the quality of your choice. I found the perfect tractor 5 times so far:)

    Anything I need to grease?

I have a printed WSM. When doing dirty work I copy the applicable page(s) because they'll end up with greasy smudges on them.

    Brake vs Reverse

It may be like my L4240 with the HST+. There is a dial on the dash for adjusting the response time. At one end it's like slamming the brakes. At the other end it'll let the tractor coast for quite a while.

Sounds more like something you'd use KY Jelly for.

    SSQA landscape rake?

Mine doesn't rotate more than that plate with holes allows. If I want to use it going forward it's a matter of unhooking it and putting it on the TPH in lieu of the QA. The rake has been around for a while and was always used on the rear of one of the tractors. It never worked well when...

    SSQA landscape rake?

Did that. Somewhere I posted when I fabricobbled it. I had a Harbor Freight QA sitting in a shed for maybe 20 years that was never used for anything. Used a chain so it can be used with light pressure and using the FEL "dump" it can really bear down.

    Strange Blade

An earlier possibility was to slice a short piece of pipe that has a wall thickness about the same as the width of the space between the bolt and the hole in the plate and pound it in. Any diameter mismatch could be solved via a longitudinal slice in the pipe. The problem with that or turning...

The 7014 runs really smooth on the DC inverter welder. You're into heavier duty than I am (as a retired guy / hobbyist). I sometimes wish the Miller had a heavier duty cycle. At times a dual input voltage would be handy as well. Using the stick machine covered those two bases. A few...

    Strange Blade

The spot in question is the gap around the bolt where it passes through the added thickness of the lock plate. This is where the bolt will pass through the beam when reassembled. The plate itself has been trimmed to the shape of the original (unseen below it) and the two have been welded...

It's been fun and has given me a chance to spend more time getting familiar with the stick welder. The Millermatic 175 had been the "go to" for a long time. I like this Everlast using 7014 more and more. The BIL saw the flashes coming from our place the other day and asked if I had time to...

Thank you for evaluating this and giving the explanation. The GR8 bolt was a choice I made based on nothing more than it was about the strongest thing I could think of that was easily available. The original may have been a bolt of some sort or a special shaft - I have no idea of the material...

    Anything I need to grease?

This'll get you started. You should have an O&M manual. Key Grease Points on Kubota B7510: Front Axle: Front axle pivot point (center) and left/right steering knuckles. Loader (If equipped): Generally 8-10 fittings: pivot pins at the tractor frame, loader boom, cylinder ends (base and rod...

Had one of those at the town park. Back then potato chips were packed in waxed paper bags. We'd sit on the empty bags for a few runs. That helped speed things up:)

The weather is helping extend this simple project into what seems more like a career:) It isn't a major design/build but it's something that is enjoyable for me. It's fun to work with tools and equipment and to create something or rehab it to make it useful again. I'm a hobbyist with some...

    A rant

The shop I've been dealing with for the past few years has already asked if I wanted to do work on the vehicle or have them do it. The last time the Trailblazer threw an evap code while doing the PA inspection, they had me drive it for over a month to see if it came back or was cleared. I...

    Leather Work Gloves

I'm currently test driving some Wells Lamont gloves that Costco had 3 pair for $19 IIRC. So far they're OK but I avoid wearing them when working around welding projects. With man-made materials on the back it is a concern that something real hot contacting the backs would melt through...

Welding table - It could probably never be big enough. Normally there are three grinders (Battery w/flap disc, battery w/wire brush for cleaning and slag removal and corded with grinding wheel for wholesale metal removal). Then all the misc. hand tools and consumables. I was also thinking...
