    The time had come

At 475 hours the original Titan SS fronts on my L3901 were done. Those tires have been superceded by Titan SS II which retail for $175. I decided to give these EuroGrip SS tires a try. Black Friday sale price was half off at $75 each!! Hard to go wrong at that price. Dan

    Old school

One of the fronts on my G2160 ruptured and I needed someone reliable to replace both of them. Called a local New Holland dealer to see if they could help. When I moved here 35 years ago they were Ford New Holland and also sold Kubota. Now Ford tractor is dead and Kioti has replaced the cc...

    Messicks wins again

I lost the fuel cap on my L3901 - dont ask. After covering the filler with some aluminum foil i called 3 different local dealers looking for one. Nobody had one in stock and the cheapest price was $4 more than Messicks. Messicks shows 10 in stock, shippimg is $16, and Fedex will have it on my...

    G2460 fouling #3 plug

As the subject line says my G2460 mower started fouing #3 plug - looks like its oil, Replace the plug and it runs great for a few minutes then fouls again. Starts easily with or without the fouled plug. Anybody had this problem and was it as simple as a bad valve stem seal? I am not in a...

    The cost of getting old

With the onset of health problems I suddenly find myself having to pay people to fix things I used to fix myself. I never realized how much money I was saving. Just recently the commercial torsion spring garage door opener in the shop hiccuped and the cable jumped off the drum. My $25 / hour...

    German engineering

My son was changing the oil in his BMW X3 today and as he was removing the drain plug the shank snapped off just below the head. When I went to help I noticed the shank was hollow and there was a pronounced undercut just below the head. I thought that was really bizarrre until after I removed...

    Stimulating a backhoe

I needed to get a little french drain installed in front of a new slab and my trench diggers are on vacation until first of the month. That sort of work is way beyond my current physical abilities and I did not want to wait 2 more weeks so I decided to hack it out with the loader bucket. Worked...

So much for calling for prices

While I was out today I stopped at one of the local dealers to pick up a couple buckets of SUDT2. When the young lady rang it up the total was considerably less than what I was given when I called them last week. Maybe I should buy a Powerball ticket.... Dan

    Hydraulic Top Link

Nothing special - JFYI. . This is an OTS Magister 2 x 14 cylinder and seems to be a perfect match for my L3901. Does require 1 x 3/4 reducing bushings at both ends. Expect it will also work on the other L01s. My first experience with a hydraulic top link and I am already spoiled. Dan

It was a beatiful day today and I decided it was time to give the "front yard" its first mowing of tje year.
