    Northern Lights

Pretty good show early this morning. The boss took these since I was snoozing for a 4:30 wake up. Supposed to be visible tonight as well. May stay up to check it out in person

    New Compost Bin

This was today’s project until the mouse house got me side tracked. Building a new 2 bin composter. Tired of the work of pallet ones falling apart. Got the back done. May get the sides and middle section partially assembled until the B3200 is back online and I can get it moved out to the yard...

    Tractor Down

Working on another project and I looked under the B3200 and saw a couple dead infant mice. Crap. Sidetracked again. I was counting on the FEL and the forks to move the project and get the fuel transfer tank in and out of the truck. On closer inspection I could see shredded insulation poking...

    Step up my fueling game

Time to step it up. Amazon had a good price on a 58 gal transfer tank with an electric pump this week. Should be in capacity of the FEL to lift it when full. Seeing that it lifted my 6’ land plane I’m looking forward to a new fuel experience. Once full I will have 108 gal capacity on hand...

    Dryer Repair

The 17 yr old dryer stopped heating last week. Was surprised to find OEM heating elements still available. $40 and 30 min work, it’s drying once more. Was not looking forward to dropping $400 on a computer filled unit that would not last as long as

    Tick Day/weekend

Well it started off good. Got the tick rig set up and full but no pump. Runs but no sucking. Took it apart and probably could rebuild if I could get parts. Off to Rural King. At least they have them on the shelf. Tick day is now Sunday since it is 87 with 95% humidity.

    Possible project

Got offered up a tractor this weekend for a “fair price” that I need to determine. It’s a Ford 671 Select O Speed. He last time I saw it run was in the early 90’s. Been barn kept. My understanding is she hasn’t run since 2019 or 20. Fluids look good, rad is new but bone dry, gas tank is bone dry...

    Credit Card Fraud - Again

Got hit with over 6k of fraud on my Visa card. Noticed it when I went online to do payment and the balance was way up. 4 airline tickets purchased overseas. Thing with this batch, none triggered Fraud alerts at my credit union or with LifeLock. This card made it almost 3 months before being...

    Spring AC Maint

Never done it but decided to clean the AC coils this year. Glad I did. Around 45 minutes of work and it is ready to go. 8 years of dirt in case you are wondering

    Where did these come from?

On today’s episode, changing out the battery in the B3200 and I spy these two screws hanging in the bottom by the radiator. Any idea where the hell they came from or go? Frankenstein been hanging out in my barn?

    Click click click

Went to start the B3200 this afternoon to move some firewood to the house. Click click click. Threw the jump pack on and she started right up. Guess it is time to replace the battery once more. This one is 2018 vintage. Time to head to Rural King and get another. For those keeping count...

    Found Another One

This one I do not have the compressed air capacity to blow. 2” input. 6.5” diameter and 16.5” tall. 5 chime steam whistle. It’s off a Chinese JS class 2-8-2 built in 1988. Other 3 chime whistle for comparison. Sadly I could not touch a US built whistle without a second mortgage.

    Rebuild time

Dug out the boys old wagon and rebuilt it over the last few months. Finished it up today. Left some of the stains and battle scars in the base but other than that, all metal was blasted and repainted, wood was sanded bare and recoated red. Base and sides were sanded to smooth them out and...

    Stupid me

Was having issues yesterday with the B3200being sluggish and wrote it off to not having run it for a while. Turns out I had set the parking brake and forgot about it earlier in the afternoon. Saw it this morning as I went to pull out of the barn. I get the ID10t award. No issues with...

    Barn Opener

Put in an opener for the barn door today. Tried something different with the side mounted direct attached unit. No rail, chain or belt. Exponentially easier to get installed vs the traditional styles. I went with Genie since my other openers are Genies and I can use their mobile app for keeping...

    Workout time

Back from vacation with the wife and decided the post travel day was a good dead tree dropping day. Got one good size and three smaller ones on the ground and cut in to rounds. Will break out the orange Friday and bring them down to the wood yard to split. I have one large one that is dead and...
