    Thank you definitely reverse bending fatigue; just pulled a study on it showing how cracks start to form on each side, working their way in, until the center cannot hold any more and snaps off, leaving the center in this defined shape. There are many other patterns for difference scenarios...

    Thanks Dan, the way this pin broke looks like a defect,.. can't think how this break could happen naturally. I think I'll take RustyDusty's advice and see if there is any type of silent recall going on,. Thanks folks

    Cheers for the response Dan. Not sure this is 19$ in Canada with shipping. Kubota seems to have the part listed 100+ CAD which is why I was thinking of just welding it. Just not sure on the Sheer Pin design question.

    I have a BX23S and whilst using the backhoe, one of the long control sticks started to flop around. Took it to bits and found that the lever frustrum, if that is the correct part, had snapped in half. The weird thing is, it looks like a shear pin, because there is a very distinct, straight line...
