Remove rear axle and brake housing

I can see the dowel pins .They are shiny. The gap between the two parts of the case is 1/4 to 3/8 all the way around. Does that snap ring, part # 110 , #220 , have anything to do with holding the axle in or does it just keep it in place in the casing?

Remove rear axle and brake housing

Yeah that is what I am told, it will wiggle around but not come apart. I even used a block of wood and hit against the axle flange but it will only separate about 1/4 inch. There appears to be a snap ring inside on the axle shaft in the illustration but even if I take the inner case loose I...

I have a L2800 F manual transmission with right cracked axle case, just inside the ROP bolt on point, and need to remove it to replace or weld but can not get the rear axle to come out. I have removed all fluid and the bolts and it will separate about 1/4 inch but no more. I have not taken the...
