    Thanks, that makes all sorts of sense. I was assuming , incorrectly, that the 40A glow fuse was the same form factor. I'll probably make a jumper to test this thing out with a more traditional fuse before risking the blowing of a 60$ part.

    The plot thickens a bit, he bought a fuse to add another fuse to the front and there is only one pin in the fuse holder in that position, see picture. I haven't seen it but he sent me the picture below.

    Ok, so measuring in parallel would expect them to be ~0.33 ohms. (IIRC it was 0.6, which I thought was fine). Nothing was shorted, in any case. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. He'll pick up some fuses tomorrow.

    Wow, thanks all. That was fast! Well, that explains it. He only has a single 40A slow blow fuse in the fuse panel near the battery, so the main glow fuse is missing. Do any of you happen to recall the specification for the glow plug resistance on this tractor?
