Unfortunately , like a dummy, I left the adapter out in the country with the tractor

    Compression Test Adapter

I didn't know there was so much variation. One of the reasons I was reaching out here is that the adapters I see with the right pitch, don't have the dimensions listed and you can't really tell from a photo. The glow plug for my tractor seats at the middle. The closest adapter I have in the...

    Compression Test Adapter

Thanks for the reply. I just want to check the compression before I go to far down other paths of troubleshooting. I bled the fuel lines and made sure there was fuel getting to the injectors. I also pulled the injectors and ordered replacements. A couple of the injector bolts weren't very tight...

    Compression Test Adapter

Working on an L2850DT no start. Checked the valve clearance twice, want to check the compression. ( the tractor was running before pulling the head.) purchased this DAYUAN 17 pc Diesel Engine Compression Tester Kit Tool Set Automotive Compressor which has an adapter that almost fits the glow...

    L2850 V1702 no start after Head R&R

Yes it's new to me, I bought it running. Not sure about the GPs, when I turn the key to the left, the GP indicator doesn't light up. Rechecking the valves is a good idea. I want to try as much as I can before I lay out the money for a compression tester I'll only use once.

    L2850 V1702 no start after Head R&R

Had a freeze plug come of the head, didn't find it until after I started to disassemble the head from the block. Put a new head gasket on and adjusted the valves. I attempted to bleed the fuel lines by turning the engine over with the fuel lines cracked at the injector. Closed the compression...

    antifreeze getting into crank case

https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/threads/cylinder-head-internal-freeze-plug.51567/ Had the same issue, unfortunately I had already started pulling the head before I found the loose plug. Still fighting to get the tractor started after reassembly.

    Cylinder Head internal freeze plug

UPDATE. Got back out there and pulled the head. The head gasket looked ok except for the water passage holes being different sizes. In the picture you can see the holes for cylinders 1 and 2 are a lot smaller than the holes for 3 and 4. Cleaning up the head and deciding whether or not to take it...

    Cylinder Head internal freeze plug

Thanks Guys, all good stuff. Right now the plan is to pull the head to inspect cylinders and head gasket. Depending on what the head looks like when it's off, either take it to a machine shop for rebuild and have plug replacement performed OR if it looks worth the risk new head gasket and plugs...

    Cylinder Head internal freeze plug

Thanks GeoHorn, the plug was lying on the head in one piece, couldn't tell if it was properly staked. The plug next to it is starting to come out as well, thinking a pressure leak from the cylinders?

    Cylinder Head internal freeze plug

Thanks for the replies. The plug that popped out is in good condition. The plug next to it is pushed up ready to come out when the pressure comes back. I'll attach pictures next time I'm at the tractor. I'm a hundred miles away right now. Since it came out in one piece I'm wondering if there...
