I don’t plan on turning into it. I’m just trying to understand it’s purpose and function and how it is different than a pressure relief.
I dont have a WSM but I can make an
educated guess based on the plumbing in the parts diagrams . The L02 appears to have a tandem pump just like the L01. On the L01 the rear section was a single outlet stream used for PS and the PS return was sent to the HST charge circuit. The L02 now has the regulator valve bolted to that outlet.
It appears the regulator now divides that output into three streams. One goes to the PS, one goes to the newly added PTO clutch, and one goes to the HST (charge circuit?) That would imply pressure compensated flow control and possibly over pressure relief for one or more of those circuits. That process may well create some noise (and possibly aeration) especially at higher flow rates.
