B6000 pricing

Hi All,

I'm new here and basically new to tractors, although I like fixing equipment and engines. It's too late now, because I already bought it, but I was wondering what people think a decent price on a B6000 with a loader would be in new england. I would call the aesthetic condition fair, but mechanically it seems to be working reasonably well. Definitely not mint condition, seems like it's been used, but doesn't seem abused.

What would be a good price?

I paid $3500 and I think that might be a bit high, but what can you do.

However, Is this one of those tractors that are considered gray market as well as the pto spinning in the reverse direction [ccw] that north american implements require?

This would make getting parts difficult as well as any local pto implements not being able to work as designed.

Yes tractor data shows this model has a counter clockwise PTO. Which is opposite of most equipment. That would only be an issue if you plan on using PTO powered implements.

I agree it’s too late to worry about the price if you already bought it.

I wonder if you could run something like a standard mower in reverse? Most brush mowers have cutting edges on both sides.

Not sure about this, especially if using an overrun clutch.

Can’t say I’ve seen mower blades with cutting edges on both sides. What models have this?

They do make reversing gearboxes for tractors like the OP’s. But again only if he plans on using a PTO implement that has a standard/common rotation.

Yanmar brand brush cutter has them. A least this one does. I think an old (Woods maybe) at work also has an edge on both sides.

The B6000 is NOT always grey market, it's one of the oddities that it can be grey or US depending on the serial number.

I was wondering/thinking the same thing. However, I have seen some original Kubota mowers and brushhogs in my area, so I could probably get one. I would think you could just get opposite-direction blades, which often are available in a close-enough size...

Re: gray market. Obviously it would be hard to say for sure but I know they were sold around here by dealers. Everything is in english, other than a few things (fuel cap, etc.) so I have no reason to believe it's anything but white market.

I don't have any implements, but I would eventually like some. First thing would be ripper/subsoiler types, and those don't care. I have found reversers online, unclear the quality level. I have a walk-behind rototiller already, and a 22" walk behind mower. This is for a 7 acre wooded property, so I can imagine things I could use. However, my lawn is no more than 1/2 acre so doing it by hand isn't really an issue. Brushhog might be helpful!

I would have somebody watch the PTO from a safe distance and engage it and stop it… I would think they would be able to tell you whether it turns clockwise or counterclockwise and you would have your answer whether you needed to worry about it or not.
