I'm thinking about having a lifting hook welded onto my excavator bucket and not sure just where would be a good attachment spot. Anybody have pictures of where they have added one?
The main reason is that I use the excavator to help stand my rotary cutter on end for storage and I am getting tube blocked when using the teeth on the bucket to attach my straps to.

Not an excavator, just a backhoe
But I welded one on the backside of the bucket .... doesn't interfere with function.
comes in handy for sure.

I have a hook in about the same spot. Sure, on a curl, it 'might' hit the dirt but, big whoop. Having the hook is too handy. Having the ability to use the curl with the hook is nice too.

Here is one on my 12” bucket. I just bought a 24” bucket and requested the same style to be welded on.

On my BH77 I put one in the linkage so I could pick with or without a bucket on.
The link has a rectangular opening and my 2, 3/8 plates just sandwich the opening with the bolts going thru the opening so no drilling on the Bh77.

Another use for my hook is to keep the bucket from settling down when parked when not using or when using the loader. I welded 2 hooks to the thumb bracket and run a chain thru wrapping the bucket and up to those hooks.

I always back it in and I keep cardboard on the garage floor to catch oil drips. When after several days I would start and move it out I would hear the dragging and my cardboard was in a big wadded ball.

Personally I wouldn't want to lift anything heavy with that setup.
Too much pressure on the hook mounting tab and the hook itself.

It would have been a better design to rotate it and have the hook hang down normally.

MSHA would not approve... :ROFLMAO:
