The old saying goes ā€œdon’t leave your car doors unlocked during zucchini seasonā€¦ā€¦ā€

Pasta primavera with some roasted chicken pieces from the grill……

image.jpg

Pasta primavera is what YOU like.

Really, it’s just cooked pasta tossed with some veggies and cheese.

This will be just fresh veggies, garlic, onion, sweet basil, oregano and pecorino Romano cheese with some pasta water.

Can be done with cream, broth, or neither, as I’m doing today. Sometimes I use cream or broth or both to make a more pronounced sauce….

Tomatoes or no tomatoes…..your choice.

Whatever you do……cook pasta ALMOST done…..don’t drain, but scoop into the veggie/sauce mixture (I use an ā€œspiderā€) and let the pasta finish…..traditional Italian method….šŸ‘

I’m not Italian by any stretch, but Italian by marriage…..

Also cooked a lot of it commercially.

Guess this weekend’s theme is using some of the basil from our garden.

Yesterday:

Top is @TheOldHokie ā€˜s favorite with sausage, peppers, onions, etc.

Bottom is fresh tomato with garlic, garlic, Romano, and a little mozzarella.

Our pizzas get fewer and smaller as we get older……

A roasted chicken breast filet with some tomato, pepper, onion, garlic and provolone. Lots of fresh basil and oregano from the garden.

Grilled some zucchini and leeks as well.

Really tasty. Haven’t done them in years.

Found myself with a taste for wings but the wife is out of town watching the grandkids and I don’t feel like driving an hour to get what I need and get back so here is something a bit different. The wings are off my meat birds so I had to cut the drummies and flats and discard the flappers. I find that having them separated helps them cook better and get better marinade penetration. Spicy Asian marinade is on tap for today, well late Monday. Off to the fridge for a day or two. Everything calls for 2 hrs marinade but I like the flavor after a couple days better. Will post back Monday or Tuesday. I found some frozen spicy garlic wings so I may hold out. Will flip the bag at least 2x a day for better coverage

Oh man, John….I’ve been craving wings a little.

Now I’m craving wings a lot!!!

Have family visiting next week for a couple days…..will work some wings into the visit. I’ve just been grilling and topping with my homemade sauce (in the freezer), so easy peasy.
