Trading (possibly) in my 2 month old 1025R on a BX23s

Sounds like you would be cutting off your nose to spite your face to me.

You're going to have parts and service issues regardless of tractor color depending on location and staff.

JD Parts has been sending me emails advertising 15% off and free shipping on everything. I can order from the JD Parts website and either pickup at my dealer or have delivered to my door. MY local dealer will charge more at the counter than I get off the direct web site so I pretty much never walk into their counter to do business. I can however get the Deere price and pickup at my local dealer same day in some instances.

My Kubota dealer is further away and doesn't even stock filters anymore. Everything I get from them has to be next day at the soonest.

It seems the "K" dealers are following the path of HD, its here you want it you pay for it, parts yeah we might get them in one day. The days of the family owned and run shops are long gone, my dealer was a family run store, and they took care of their customers, and the old folks passed on, and dont get me wrong butt he kids have opened 3 new dealers and are doing well from what I understand, they have forgotten about the people that put them in that position. I get most of everything I need on line, there are several dealers that have a very good rep on mail orders. And dare I say it even amazon and ebay have good deals on OEM stuff. Ya do what ya gota do to keep moving forward

Luckily my local Kubota dealer is family owned. Parts availability will vary i get that - my main concern was being told that they have everything - drop off the tractor and then i am told they have a back order on some critical parts and it maybe months before they get it. Completely wrecking my plans to get some stuff done this weekend (that would have otherwise needed to wait till sometime later next month).

In my case my Kubota dealer is 0.6 mi away - the Deere dealer is 25 miles away. Kubota dealer had more stuff stocked. This is more of a dealer related issue than it is a part being on back order issue.

You should do what you want to do. Your tractor, your money.

If your local Kubota dealer is good, and your local JD dealer not, makes sense to switch. It's a chunk of money, I'd probably persevere. But it's not unreasonable to change. And I think you said you've already done it.......so not much use giving advice to not do it.

Everyone knows Kubota makes better small tractors than JD. Add a better dealer on top of that, and you've made a good decision.

I have been farming with JD tractors for close to fifty years. I have only owned one new JD tractor. Farming with mostly 20 to 40 year old tractors. Sprayer and combine much newer. The reason I have stay with mainly JD is I can get parts for a 40 plus year old JD 4440 try to get parts for a White 135 tractor. I always do my own work so there shop service is little concern to me. All these dealers combining is not been good. Last year I changed dealer net work over a big freight bill that was to be free shipping when I ordered fifty grand worth of combine parts. I am much happier with the new dealer net work I am using now and they deliver almost all my parts for free I might add . I bought my Kubota MX6000 during COVID because JD didn't have time for us little guys. When I was side by side shopping I bought my Kubota RTV 1100 instead of a Gator. I don't have any Kubota dealers close. So far needed mostly maintenance items for both so I just mail order them. Getting a fair amount of hours on the MX and it hasn't been back to the dealer. I had one issue that was a recall and the dealer sent me the part and I took care of it. All in all I will buy Kubota again. Glad you have a {good} dealer close.

I can't tell if your trailer isn't level, or it's an illusion. It's something to check to make sure the weight is on both axles equally.

I don't think anyone wants to pay the high price for parts that are always in stock for every model and year. I don't. I prefer less failures.

Dealer was a significant factor when I was buying. Due to my job, I dealt with parts and service dept of every equipment dealer in central NC and over half the dealers in eastern NC from about 1991 to the end of 2023; as some frequently and some infrequently. Even within the same brand, they aren’t all the same. It doesn’t make a difference until you have a real problem. Then it makes a difference.

I have three good to very good Kubota dealers within 45 minutes. For JD, I have the same problem as @William1 (post #20). This I run orange.

Not quite .... that wasn't the first time with the Deere dealer... they delivered the tractor when i wasn't here - had to leave work go home. When they did i asked the delivery driver to show me how the deck comes off and back on.... when he tried to back off it the draft arms on the mower deck got bent... 2 weeks later i got that fixed under warranty (didn't even put a single minute on the machine). Took it back - assuming it was all properly set (the draft arms have a proper length adjustment/spec). They adjusted it too long... it bent again. I brought it in a 2nd time - told them again... measured it before loading up - and told them it was still too long they said not to worry and to just drive over it and go... same thing happened again.

The 3rd time i asked them to just give me the parts - they wouldn't under warranty - so I paid for it myself and installed it properly (set to proper length) - 0 problems after wards.

I wanted a 3rd function + backhoe ... waited what I think was around 1 month - they told me to drop off the tractor and it would be ready within 3 days. In the meanwhile I have work that needed to be done and people waiting on me (hired work to clear out some parts of my land). I get to the dealer - drop the tractor off with service... Service tells me "your sales guy didn't tell you"... and the rest is in this post. After that I was told 3 months of wait for a OEM 3rd function kit and the hoses (even though they are not back ordered). They wanted $12k and change for all of that.

The BX23s was actually cheaper with the $4k incentive (if paying cash) including what I got on trade so I did that. To me it was worth it to be out of that ecosystem. If you aren't buying a 7 series tractor or larger they just don't give a damn about you. That may not be true of all Deere dealers - but its either that or I drive anywhere from 3hrs - 6hrs out every time I'd need something. I paid $27k for that 1025R + Loader and the 60" deck + Pallet forks. So in the end it was actually cheaper for me to trade in that 1025R (with the trade deal I got) get a 3rd function installed and not have to deal with that b.s. again.


There was quite a bit more to it than just "oh they didn't have a part so I am going to dump the whole thing". But I could see how it could be read that way.

Not so clean anymore... hydraulics are far more sensitive than the 1025r (especially when you turn the engine up) i like that.
