I am still above ground, breathing, eating & sleeping.
It's too soon for me to push up any flowers from below. It isn't time yet, I have things to get done!
Many new chores & tasks to do, mailing out death certificates, transferring accounts/bills into my name.
Endless phone calls, arranging a Funeral, planning a Celebration of Life event at a local Fire Station.
Phone calls/visits to the caterer, picking out a menu.
Lawyer visits, notarized paperwork. Good thing I am retired or I would be very busy.
The house is pretty darned quiet.
Thankfully, I have supportive friends and family nearby.
Her dog is gradually coming to terms with "Mommy" being gone.
He's a very good listener, but he doesn't talk very much.
Her parents visited quite frequently. We stored many totes of their belongings here at the house.
That way, they could easily visit their daughter and grandchildren in upstate New York and fly here
without bringing any checked luggage. For all the different seasons here, they had everything they needed already here when they arrived. This trip, they drove from Florida with their pickup truck, so everything stored here now needed to return back to Florida. When they departed several days ago, the pickup was packed to the ceiling in the four door cab and the bed was stuffed. They will fly back here in late September for their daughters Funeral.

Nothing happens inside the house or outside, without a little "huff" and growl.
Mini-Bulldog, 3/4 French Bulldog, 1/4 Old English Bulldog. Once he hit three years old,
the LAZY genes from the Old English Bulldog bloodline kicked in.

This is the dog, and he is a very good boy!

Progress at the cabin is continuing, water systems upgrades are completed outside, just some simple interior plumbing remaining. I'm still working on selling the house and I hope to be moved into the cabin full time/all four seasons by no later than November first. Just about the time the snow falls here.

Sounds like you're keeping (extremely) busy but doing way more than just going through the motions. That's great to hear you have a good support network close by as well.

The bear pictured above was in my neighbors yard earlier in the year, less than one mile from my home.
It sat in the neighbors back yard, and watched the people taking his photo from the attached deck on their house. It later turned out to be a male (photo evidence) and since the above picture, it has been photographed with a female and several cubs.
My adjoining property owner/neighbor at the cabin got a bear photo on his trail camera system earlier.
I don't know exactly where my neighbors camera is actually set up, but some rough mapping told me it's within about a 1/4 mile from the porch on my cabin. I will need to be very cautious letting that little dog out at night for doing his business outside. The dog is silly enough to try and chase a bear out of "his" yard.
