Del Morino Super Centurion 158 flail mower

I have a couple of questions s about the Del Morino Super Centurion 158 flail mower. Right now, I only have single rear remote, but this unit has both a horizontal and vertical cylinder, so am I correct that I need at least two remotes? I also have a hydraulic top link on order, and I’m assuming I would use this with the SC flail mower, so that means I actually need three remotes.

Also, I want to use the flail primarily for grass, but I do have some sections of property that could use a good brush hog. Can you swap between the grass blades and hammer blades on these machines?

The only relevant thing I have on this, is that I installed a manual diversion/selection valve on a combine for a customer who only had 1 remote, with two sets of hydro cylinders on the combine.

In his case it made more sense to get off the tractor and change which cylinders were receiving the flow - but not too frequently in his case. I don't use flail mowers so I don't know how much adjustment is needed once set with the hydraulics.

I'm just throwing that option out there because it is a cheaper alternative, not because it's a perfect solution.

I believe that @McMXi has the same flail mower and a similar (cabbed) tractor. He has some posts on here about upgrades to the tractor to add some type of joystick and a multiplier to increase the number of cylinders he can control (which I think is above 3).

You are correct. I have the same flail and an MX6000HSTC with three factory rear remotes and a 3X multiplier from Summit Hydraulics which is controlled via a 3-button Scorpion control grip on #3 remote lever.

Yes, you will need at least two sets of rear remotes to control the Del Morino flail. I have the Kubota top and tilt setup on the MX and in the winter months I run a Land Pride SB1574 snow blower which has hydraulic chute rotation and deflector angle. I like to float the entire blower (left to right) and also like to be able to control the angle of attack of the blower so that's why I added the Summit Hydraulics 3X multiplier to give me four circuits out back (I actually have five of course). I'm able to keep the top and tilt cylinders connected to the factory remotes, and run the chute off the Summit Hydraulics multiplier. Additionally, controlling the snow blower chute via the one lever and the Scorpion control grip is more convenient than having to switch between two levers.

The Del Morino is simpler in that it only requires two rear remotes, but you can get fancy with more remotes. I like to float the cutting head left to right so that it adjusts for changes in terrain (particularly when the cutting head is offset), so I have the head rotation cylinder connected to the FD rear remote. I have the top link cylinder and the offset/extension cylinder on the flail connected to the 3X multiplier. The tilt cylinder is connected to the SC valve. You can run the flail with just two rear remotes and use the standard links for the simplest set up.

Similar to what's been mentioned above, I have a summit hydraulic multiplier running on my L6060. I have a 2x multiplier but they also make 3x multiplier as McMXi noted. He fabricated a very fancy alteration to his loader control lever To control his multiplier. I use the Switch box control which came with my unit which I mounted in front of the cupholder on the right side of the cab which seems to work fine.
As for the question of Blades versus Hammers on your Flail mower, I have utilized both my flail which is a different brand than yours. Currently I have hammers on and haven't gone back to the blades for a while as the hammers do a reasonable job on cutting grass. You should check with the manufacturer as to whether they frown upon utilizing one type of cutter when the machine was built for the other.

Have you made a decision on what way you're going to go with?

My L5460 came with two rear remotes and I had a third added last month. I gave a top and tilt kit coming from Fitritehydraulics.com and a Land Pride RB2684 with a hydraulic angle kit. I'm looking forward to the extra capability with the side link vs the two remotes, hydraulic top link and angle kit on the RB1672 i had on my LX3310.

I am going to go with the super Centurion 158, I just haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m currently in the process of trying to get my dealer to buy my BH92 with hyd. thumb because I’ve come to realize I need a mini-excavator and a looking at the KX-040s. I am also still waiting for my hydraulic top link.

I pulled the trigger on trading in my BH92 for a KX-033-4 mini-excavator (I sign the paperwork today). I have to put the BH92 back on the L6060 so it can be transported to the dealership. Since it's going there anyway, I am going to have them install the additional 2 rear remotes, so I will be set up to order the Super Centurion. I think that purchase is going to have to wait until next year now, but at least I will be ready. Also, I just got an email from UPS that the hydraulic top link I ordered from Fit Rite has been shipped. Once that gets here, I will definitely be asking the members here on how to install/use it.

The KX33 should be a great piece of equipment for the property.

I got my Fitrite top and tilt last week but they're still sitting on the bench due to a injured shoulder and tweaked back. I hope to get them on this weekend.

Sorry to hear about your back. I lost this entire spring due to a pinched nerve between C7 and T1. Took four months to recover. I hope you are feeling better soon.
