Is there any issues registering, transporting or using a 2021 M7060 from out of state into California if it has had the DEF system deleted?

It will only be used on private property and never on public roads.

Thank you guys/gals for any advice/input,

Donnie

Ummm…maybe not ask on a public site…

And being a CA resident myself, these over zealous regulations and regulators would love to find things like this…

Sorry, this would be my first tractor so I'm going in a little blind and just trying to learn
You're not going to be able to get any kubota dealer help with the tractor.
If it has any issues that are engine related you will either have to fix it yourself, of find an independent shop to do it.
If you have any issues that relate to insurance you'rre going to run into issues.
If your doing any farm or ranch subsiddies you could run into issues.
Resale couldd get rather tricky down the line.
Also do you know if the "delete" was done properly?
A bad delete job can add to a whole host of headaches down the line, and it could end up costing you a tton of money.
If you're having to cross scales or inspection stations along the way, that would be one way that you could get caught.
Also if you get pulled over and inspected that could also be another way to get caught.
In California it would be super easy for a neighbor to see exhaust smoke and call you in.

Thank you so much for the feedback. How tough would it be to add the DEF/DPF back on to it?
Not tough at all if they deleted it properly... BUT very very pricey!

OH and there is NO DEF on that tractor, Just a DPF filter.

From what I understand, deleting also requires tuning and removing parts. It's hard to say how that one was done. Personally, I wouldn't bother because emissions parts are very expensive and the tuning complex.

You mean, on a 21 M7060 there was no DEF fluid or no DPF whatsoever originally from the factory? The seller just states "DEF removed". There are no check engine lights and it seems to run perfect.

I could justify up to $5000 to add the emissions back on to it if that's what you guys recommend truly.

I see now, it had a CAT, DPF and outlet kit...looks like about $7500 from a dealer before any tuning back to emissions compliance. I just don't even know if a dealer would do that for me?

It's a 21 so I doubt much warranty left if any. Not worried about resale or transport.

Seems like a solid delete that's on it.

Just on the fence.

Thank you guys

Some senior people on this site have Kubota status as authorised repairers etc. They absolutely cannot recommend to you that you buy a DPF deleted tractor. CA are crazy, and someone could report you, the fines aren't pretty.

Leaving all that aside, do you particularly want a DPF delete machine (and if so, why?), or is it just that you have a deal on this particular machine, and you didn't specifically want a DPF-free machine?

If there is a deal on this particular machine, and it has a DPF delete, maybe ask yourself why it's cheap? Perhaps that DPF delete is problematic?

It's not my money, and not me who'd pay the fines. So I'll say that Kubota engines are pretty robust, and probably it'd be fine. But if it's not fine, it'll be very expensive. So.....how much are you saving really?

Thank you. I have no preference either way. In my personal opinion, the DPF/Cat is more restrictive but I'm not concerned with the additional power. More would rather have it breathing free, if there is no negative side effects.

The reason for this one being such a good deal is that it was a bank repossession. The original cat/DPF actually come with it and our dealer told me over the phone that they would re program the ECU back to the factory tune if I re installed the parts if needed.

I'm very new to this and just want to make a solid decision. It is a HUGE savings over the price of a new/typical used one.

21 M7060, 12 speed, full cab, suspension seat, 175 hours, flail mower, brush hog, 72" bucket, backhoe w/18" bucket, snow blower, fork attachment, auger... $23,000 including the factory cat and DPF, both keys and original docs

I'd buy it, If you have the stuff store until you need it. Is someone really going to come on your land and inspect your tractor? Is your Neighbor really going to turn you in? Is it going to be used in a big area? Maybe I don't understand on crazy it is out in CA. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I would imagine there’s a lot of older tractors in California running without emissions devices because they weren’t required at a time when they were sold. Just an additional thought…

Thank you guys so much. I went ahead with it. I'll just put the emissions stuff back on if it's an issue. It was a huge relief finding out that the seller kept all of the original factory emissions parts. I figure, worst case I can just order the outlet pipe from the dealer and bolt it all back on there.

Yeah, makes sense. If all the parts are there, and the dealer says it can be reinstalled and reflashed, there's not a lot of downside. Main risk is a fine, but if you don't go telling people, there's nobody to report you. It's not something other people need to know.

Also keeps plausible deniability. If you do eventually get picked up somehow (not sure how), you can say "oh, I didn't know, it was like that when I bought it."

Buy, RUN, and DON’T TELL ANYONE!
Good fences make good neighbors—anyone asks, none of your damn business—unbelievable deal sir.

Should you change your mind: what’s the contact info for the tractor?

Sounds like a great deal, hopefully it’s just that and not a crafty scam. I wouldn’t exchange any cash until in person

Sounds like a great deal. Do what you gotta do and enjoy your nice tractor. Don't lug it, and it won't smoke. Also, without it turning the exhaust into a flamethrower every handful of hours, you will be doing your part to reduce forest fires; pretty much all the forestry equipment CA and other states use is factory-exempt from DPF.

That price definitely sounds too low. Should easily be double or triple that price. Under 200 hours and a delete? Didn’t know you could get a backhoe with a cabbed M series.

If that’s a real price I’ll drive from Alabama and pick it up tomorrow.
