I read that the battery size for my L1501DT Kubota tractor is a group 24 size. I also read that the USA equivalent model number of tractor, the L185DT takes a group 24F size battery. Which is correct? I ask because the tractor is 200 miles away and needs a new battery. Thanks in advance for any answers.

The L1501 uses a 12 V, 550 CCA battery. Keep the replacement as close to that with 550 CCA or higher and match the terminal layout. Not sure if a 1/2" larger would matter for the 24F, depends on your battery pan.

Group 24 Battery Dimensions
10.25'' x 6.8125'' x 8.875'' Inches
260 x 173 x 225 Millimeters

Group 24F Battery Dimensions
10.75'' x 6.8125'' x 9'' Inches
273 x 173 x 229 Millimeters

Either a 24 or a 24F will work, they just have the terminals on opposite ends.
Just make sure to attach the positive to the positive and vice versa.

When sitting on the tractor seat, my L185F has the starter motor and positive battery treminal on the left side. The negative terminal and the ground point on the frame are on the right side.
